How to get started quickly with Amical
Download Amical
Get started by downloading the Amical app from our downloads page. We package the apps for your convenience and they're available via our GitHub releases.
Installation on Mac
- Download and Install: After downloading, drag Amical to your Applications folder
- First Launch: Since the app isn't notarized yet, you may see a security warning on some Macs
Allow Amical to Run (macOS)
If you encounter a security warning when first opening Amical:
- Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General
- Click "Open Anyway" next to the Amical warning
- Or right-click the Amical app and select "Open", then confirm
Setup
- Open Amical from your Applications folder
- Follow the startup steps which include:
- Microphone Access: Grant permission so Amical can hear your voice
- Accessibility Access: Allow Amical to use keyboard shortcuts and paste text into other apps
How to Use
- Open any app where you want to type - Notes, Slack, Email, etc.
- Hold the
fn
key and start speaking - Release the
fn
key when you're done speaking - Amical will convert your speech to text and automatically paste it into the active app
That's it! You're ready to start dictating in any application.
