Custom Vocabulary

Add custom terms to improve transcription accuracy for specialized content

Custom vocabulary helps Amical recognize names, technical terms, and jargon that speech-to-text models often get wrong.

Adding Terms

Open Settings → Vocabulary to manage your custom vocabulary.

Standard terms — Add words that Amical should recognize and spell correctly. Useful for:

  • Technical terms (Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, CI/CD)
  • Names and proper nouns (McConaughey, Satya Nadella)
  • Acronyms (SOC2, ROI, HIPAA)
  • Brand names and products (Jira, Figma, Vercel)

Replacement pairs — Map common misheard words to the correct spelling. For example:

  • "amicle" → "Amical"
  • "cube control" → "kubectl"
  • "post gress" → "PostgreSQL"

When adding a term, use the replacement toggle in the dialog to switch between standard and replacement mode.

How It Works

When you dictate, Amical passes your vocabulary to the AI formatting step. The model compares transcribed words against your vocabulary and corrects matches — fixing spelling, capitalization, and common misrecognitions from the speech-to-text model.

Team Vocabulary

If you're on a team plan, vocabulary can be shared across your organization. Team vocabulary is synced automatically so everyone benefits from the same corrections.
