How to get started quickly with Amical
Download Amical
Get Amical from our downloads page or install via the methods below.
Mac
Homebrew (recommended):
brew install --cask amicalManual install: Download the .dmg from the downloads page, open it, and drag Amical to your Applications folder.
Allow Amical to Run (macOS)
If you see a security warning on first launch:
- Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security
- Click "Open Anyway" next to the Amical warning
- Or right-click the Amical app and select "Open", then confirm
Windows
Download the installer from the downloads page and run it. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.
Mobile
Amical is available on iOS and Android in private beta. Join the beta to get early access.
Setup
- Open Amical from your Applications folder (Mac) or Start menu (Windows)
- Follow the startup steps:
- Microphone Access — Grant permission so Amical can hear your voice
- Accessibility Access — Allow Amical to use keyboard shortcuts and paste text into other apps
How to Use
- Open any app where you want to type — Notes, Slack, Email, etc.
- Hold the
fnkey and start speaking - Release the
fnkey when you're done - Amical converts your speech to text and automatically pastes it into the active app
That's it! You're ready to start dictating in any application.
